Major survey of the superb still-life paintings by the Spanish painter Luis Meléndez (1716-1780) who specialised in depicting the edible products of Spain, many commissioned by Charles III to decorate the walls of the Palacio Real at Aránjuez. With an essay placing his work within the European still-life tradition, and discussion of the ceramic, glass, copper, and wooden jugs, jars and food containers, featured in his paintings.  Text in Spanish.
